There's No Overstating the Power of Happiness

Dennis Prager says that we have a moral obligation to be happy. I agree, although I agree in the same way as if Prager had said that breathing is a moral imperative. Happiness is the essential catalyst of all human action. We don't do anything unless we are convinced--at least in that split second that we commit to the choice--that it will make us happier. Of course, we don't always get it right. Far from it. We fail to consider many essential variables that affect our ultimate happiness. And we assign incorrect values on many of the variables that we do consider. And we are all made happy by different things. But make no mistake, happiness is our driving force.
